The sense of smell is a pretty incredible thing.  It sounds silly, but it’s true.  I just love how our sense of smell is so strongly connected to our memory.  Just the other day, I smelled a freshly brewed pot of coffee, and there was just something about the smell of that particular kind of coffee that brought me back, instantaneously, to our honeymoon in Costa Rica.  I reminisced about our lazy mornings, where we would “sleep-in” until 7:30, throw on our bathing suits for the day, wander down to the hotel’s restaurant, and sip on our Costa Rican coffee, which was so fresh and natural that we actually preferred to drink it black.  Imagine that.  We drove our rental car, better known as “Jimmy”, down miles and miles of dirt roads, in hopes of finding that secluded beach with no one in sight.  And guess what, we found it. : )  We went on incredible hikes, definitely came within a few feet of crocodiles, and out-ran a jaguar (not really, but I was pretty convinced it was stalking us).  We met some amazing people and fellow honeymooners, who will definitely be life-long friends.  We talked about our wedding, and how perfect it was, and how we fall more in love with one another as each day passes.  We sailed, we snorkeled, we surfed, and although we are not the “resort” type, we even managed to stay by the pool for a day, and enjoy some massages.  All of this conjured up by simply smelling some coffee. : )

In light of my keen sense of smell, and my nostalgia, enjoy some photos of our incredible travel to Costa Rica.

you should send these pictures to Tourism Costa Rica. I’m sure their catalogue needs some updating and I’m pretty sure these would be the most incredible pictures they’ve ever seen! love them!
